Join best-selling author Sofie Laguna as she speaks at Tura Marrang Library, Friday 1 August 2025 at 6:00PM. Sofie is an award-winning Australian writer for children and adults. She won the Miles Franklin Award for her second novel, The Eye of the Sheep in 2015. Sofie’s most recent novel for adults, Infinite Splendours, won the 2021 Margaret and Colin Roderick Literary Award and the HT Priestley Medal and was long listed for the Miles Franklin Award, the Indie Award and the Australian Book Industry Awards. Sofie's new novel for adults, The Underworld, is due for launch with Penguin Books Australia, October 28. Sofie originally studied to be a lawyer, but after deciding law was not for her, she moved to Melbourne to train as an actor. Sofie worked for many years as an actor before she began to write books. Bega Valley Shire Library will close on Friday 25 April for the Anzac Day Public Holiday.  The library will re-open Saturday 26 April at 10:00am.
