This week the Bega Valley Shire Library is celebrating the launch of an exciting new online resource, Comics Plus.  With Comics Plus, customers can “read all the comics” with unlimited access to thousands of digital comics, manga, and picture books on computers, tablets, and phones. There are no holds, wait lists, or monthly borrowing limits, and new titles are added to every week. Customers have the option to choose between the full collection, which includes a diverse selection of titles from a variety of popular publishers, as well as the Comics Plus Children’s Library, where young readers have access to thousands of age-appropriate digital comics, manga, learn to read books and picture books. The Tura Marrang Library is the place to be on Friday 26th July with the official launch of the Tura Marrang Library courtyard mural at 11am. The mural launch celebrates the new artwork coordinated by Bianca Bellicanta, and painted by Bianca, Indigo Murray and Lucinda Thurston. The mural was completed thanks to funding received by the Bush & Us project from Vincent FairFax Family Foundation’s ‘Backing the Future’ initiative.  The artists will be on-site to discuss the mural and answer any questions you may have. Join us at Bega & Eden Libraries with author Karen Viggers as she discusses her latest novel, 'Sidelines', a family drama about teen sport and parents living vicariously through their kids. Through adult and teen characters, the story delves into modern life, parenting, and the ongoing conversation about socially acceptable behaviour on the sidelines of the sporting field. Karen Viggers is a veterinarian, podcaster and retired soccer mum. She is also the author of five internationally bestselling novels, and her books have sold almost a million copies in France. She writes about lighthouses, country towns, pets and wildlife, forests and mountains, and now urban families and junior sport. She likes to delve into challenging issues and relationships. Fancy some wow factor in your garden this summer? Bulbs, perennials and tubers are an excellent way to add structure and stunning colour to your garden landscape. These types of plants also have the added advantage of providing years of fragrant, free, flower bouquets. Perhaps you have some excess bulbs that you are willing to share? Tura Marrang Library are hosting a bulb, perennial and tuber swap day on Saturday 13 July. Meet up to share bulbs with fellow gardening enthusiasts, and take home some new, rewarding varieties. Weather permitting, the swap will take place in the library courtyard. Morning tea will be provided. All excess bulbs will be planted in the library garden. Please have your bulbs separated and clearly labelled ready for sharing. Free event, bookings not required, just turn up on the day. 😍😍😍

School Holiday Outreach Sessions: Bega Valley Shire Library is taking our school holiday program out into the community. We are running an exciting series of STEM and art activities at locations across the shire. Featuring 3D printing, construction challenges, electronic music and artistic creations.  Refreshments included. Sessions suit young people aged 12 to 19 years old. Tales of Tathra and Beyond With special guests Betty & Susie Koellner and other long time Bega Valley residents yet to be announced. Our guests will join Lisa Herbert from Sapphire Stories to share tales of local history and times gone by. Featuring historical images form the Betty Koellner photographic collection. Hear about colourful characters, good times, tough times and the beginning of many local institutions including the Tathra Nippers. A must for local history buffs!
